Harsh kink when put back into 1st gear 6mt

Hi all so recently I've notice when coming to a stop sign or stop and putting the gear shifter back into 1st gear sometimes there will be a bit of binding I belive and it's not stopping me from putting back into gear just when putting it back into first it's a bit of a jolt like you can feel the engine or what ever the linkage is connected to hit gives it a jolt.

Correct me if I am wrong but can this be fix by replacing the shift linkage bushing maybe? Or maybe someone can throw in their 2 cents thanks.

Whats your year and milage? Also how often have you changed the transmission fluid and what type of fluid do you use?

The trans input shaft is still spinning because it still has inertia. You shove it into 1st. The output shaft is NOT spinning since your wheels are at a stop. The input shaft now comes to a sudden stop because it has to match speed with the output shaft. That sudden stop is your "thunk". All manual transmissions do this.

Try this:
Come to a stop.
Push the clutch in.
WAIT. a few seconds. Maybe 5 or so.
Put it into 1st.

The noise and feeling should have pretty much gone away as long as your clutch is properly bled and adjusted and none of the components are causing drag.

If the clutch is dragging, I suggest fixing it right away.

For me to get back into 1st smoothly, I must either come to a complete stop or I must rev-match and double clutch otherwise it fights me until the synchos catch up. So if I am not coming to a complete stop, I usually use 2nd instead.

My tl is 05 and 155k I plan on doing flush and drain of transmission fluid 3 times within the next week when I bring it into the shop for clutch replacement and a whole bunch of other maintenance work.

I will try to do what you suggested thanks.

I know I def have to do drain and refill I've done research and am experiencing what a lot there have with 3rd gear grinding / notch feeling when putting it into third hopefully this will also help.

^if you have a six speed manual. you do not have to drain it 3x....
in one shot, ALL of the fluid will come out...all 2.3 quarts will come out in one shot!

in automatic cars, the clutch packs hold fluid.. thus why automatic cars need to drain 3x....because NOT all of their fluid comes out
