Guys ive been having issues with my handsfree link and this stupid "booting" up alert. Ive read numerous threads about people who have the same problem but cant find quick fixes as opposed to spending $$$ on a new module. Any input?
Just disconnect it. If it's dead, only replacing it will make it work again. It can be disconnected and left in place with only the voice control for the navi is lost.
Mine was fried. I asked my service manager and he said he had good luck convincing Acura to pay for it. I paid $40.00 or so to have mine replaced, Acura paid the rest. Worth having hands-free again.
Mine is wayyy out of warrantee, but my service manager did the swap and program for me for free. I just had to pay retail at the parts counter for the module. I think it was $140.00. Worth every penny, can't live without my bluetooth!

Sorry to bring this thread back from the dead. But I have the same issue. Now I disconnected and remove the HFL module, connected everything back like lights and moon roof control. THe HFL display still says "Booting Up"
Will this still drain my battery? Or having the HFL out of the picture is ok for now?
Sorry to bring this back up, I didn't want to make another thread.
Within the past few days I noticed my car won't connect to my phone when I turn the bluetooth on my phone on. When I flip through the MID and go to "Hands Free Link" and press "Select" it says "Booting up" and stays that way.
Many of you here say that if I have a malfunctioning bluetooth module it will drain my battery.
My question specifically is will it drain the battery regardless if it says "Booting up" or not? What I mean is when I get into my vehicle and go to the Hands Free Link menu it will not say "Booting Up" until I press "select" for it. Currently it will not say "Booting up" unless I select it to boot up. Will it still drain my battery?

It will still drain your battery. It's trying to boot up in the background regardless which mode you are in your MID.
I removed mine, it still says "Booting up" but as long as it's disconnected, it is fine. I bought a replacement and it still has issues, so not sure what is wrong with my car

Thanks P1zzaman for the reply and clarifying this for me. I wasn't expecting to get a reply so soon so I went ahead and disconnected the hands free module anyways.
In the past I remember reading someone say that you can tell if it's draining the battery by feeling a certain interior piece to see if it feels warm with the car off. I didn't know what particular piece was supposed to be felt, but as I removed the overhead pieces to get to the bluetooth module I could definitely feel it was warm so I knew right away that it was indeed draining my battery.
Luckily I noticed my bluetooth module wasn't functioning within a few days. I'm glad I didn't find out by going out to start my car only to find out the battery was dead!
Thank you ACURAZINE!

I actually pulled the board out of the black jacket and stuck it in the oven. 385F for 8 minutes followed by a 25 minute cool down. I then inspected for any damage caused by the baking and found none visible. Threw it all back together and in the car and now it's working again like a brand new. don't wast your $600 at the dealer for a replacement
Not to burst your bubble, but wait a few weeks and see if it still works. I think everyone that has baked their HFL got it to work for a few weeks and then it died again. Hopefully by some stroke of luck yours will work. GL!!
What exactly happens when you bake it? Is it some soldering that needed to be remelted or something?
remelt the soldering, after years of usage the soldering they use is "lead free" eco friendly substances. These early generation "lead" solder type develop micro crack over time and cause it to fail. Same concept as earlier Xbox 360 ROD and PS3 YLD. The baking process call reflow, other method call reball.
