use an original key that came with the car it should have a black top, if it has a grey top it won't work. That's the valet key.

are you saying the key is not turning, or the box is actually not opening after you unlock it.

if the key turns, I'd say yank on it a bit. maybe the contents is causing the door to hang up. this happened to me once and i just yanked the box and it came loose.

if i put a flat head in and turn it with some pliers will it break it loose. it is still under warranty so if i break it they can replace it.

Not unless you show that the lock was not broken by force.. but if you're under warranty why don't you take it to the dealership so they can open it.. I'm guessing the legality of whatever's in your glovebox is at question.. well.. hmm.. i'll get back to you and check the service manual over the mechanics of the lock and get back to you..

pull the key out slightly, like 1 mm and then try. Also try flipping the key over and using the other side. If it doesn't turn the tumblers are not engaging, causing an issue.

I checked the schematic and it doesn't seem like breaking the lock cylinder would unlock the the glovebox.

I would definitely take it in to Acura or Honda even. If that's not convenient I'd call local locksmiths and get some estimates.

I've worked on some tumbler locks. I've had the locking assembly disengage so the key would turn the lock cylinder but it wouldn't lift the slide so it would remain locked.. but I've never encountered your problem.

It sounds like some of your tumblers might be stuck. You can use a paper clip and run past each of the tumblers to see if they are down, if not you can use it to try and release any of the stuck tumblers. I'd tap the outside and then take a thin punch / key and tap the inside (not too hard though). Then try unlocking it.

well.. i hope that helps.

Try Acura Roadside Assistance. Perhaps they can help. 1-800-594-8500. Good luck.
