Angry Front Left Suspension Noise!! PLEASE HELP

ok, so after lowering my TL on the neuspeedsuper cup kit, i have this "clunking noise" coming from the front left and it really pisses me off. I dont understand what it is. i have taken the whole strut assembly off the car and check for anything that was out of place. everything looked fine. so i dont get it?? i even had the dealer look at it and all the could say is that they could not locate the source of noise. wtf? the tech said it might but the strut itself. but after taking it apart i saw nothing. im gonna try installing a new top hat, spring insulator and new bushings for the top hats and see what happens.

any body else have this problem.??????????

Sure it's the strut assembly? Take a look at the stabilizer bar links. Nissan dealer said that the daughter's Maxima needed new struts, noise in front when hitting bumps, but could also hear the noise in a quick turn to the right at higher speeds, but not the left. Jacked it up, under the suspension to leave it loaded, examined the front suspension and found a stabilizer end link bolt that was tight, no movement in bar when pulled by hand, but after further tighening, no more noise.

yeah.. I'd try new top hat hardware as you previously mentioned since you ruled out the strut.

Did you ever sort out the clucking noise? Thinking about getting the Supercup kit but concerned about the noise from a spring/shock setup..

Ok, real quick. I guess I should have updated you guys a while ago. Anyway, the noise is GONE! I ended up replacing my left knuckle as it was slightly bent somehow I think there is a bearing in there somewhere that was also damaged in which either the bearing or the bent knuckle was causing the "clunking" I started to replaced the front sway baR, but it was necessary. Although I still may end up doing that for handling purposes as I still have some slight oversteer

Faceman1, this noise had NOTHING to do with the neuspeed supercup kit! Go ahead and pick one up

So you replaced the entire knuckle assembly, did this include the hub with wheel bearing? I have a clunking noise from the front right, and the dealer could not find it, I'm thinking it might be the axle, as the noise comes when I either accelerate or decelerate. I also noticed my right front wheel is slightly more forward than the left, I wonder if I have a bent knuckle assembly as well.

I'm not aware of a bearing in the knuckle.. I'm guess it was the hub bearing. Glad you're rolling again..

I wonder if this is causing my low speed wiggle. Dang, so many possibilities!

you cant really tell if the knuckle is bent by just looking at it. the way my mechanic found out was by throwing it on the alignment rack. how he determined it from that, i dunno. howver, wateva bearing is needed had to be ordered seperatley unles u r getting an ENTIRE "used" knuckle assembly

howver, if u have an axle problem, i think it more so would be "clicking" rather than a "clunk"....at least mine does....more shit for me to fix

ok, another update, after replacing the knuckle, the noise came back. however, the noise was associated with the left endlink this time around. it was all beat up and the bushings were dangerously loose! so im starting to think this was the problem from the beginning! anywho, noise is gone and ill prollly end-up replacing the right front endlink as well when i swap my swaybar to the TL-s swaybar. hope this helps anyone with similar "clunk" symptoms
