Hey all,
I installed these F&F type 1 coilovers a month ago. Don't have any problems, only today I had a problem with a speed bump.
I went over it at 5 mph and it made this clanking noise that I never heard before, I went over it again very slowly and no noise, did it one last time at 5 mph and made the noise again.
Paranoid I blew a coilover or something I drove around the area looking for more speed bumps and dips and bumps, went over them all at various speeds and no clank. Same thing on my commute home, went the "bumpy" way and heard no noises in the car or outside the car.
Only happens at this speed bump. Also one time it felt like the car "bottomed out". The ride is still very stiff, I feel every bump, its not bouncy at all.
Its a clanking noise like someone takes two metal things and bangs them over and over. I am lowered to tight 1 finger gap up front, and no finger gap in the back, no noises in the back. Only the front.
Having a problem uploading the video.
I am uploading the video perhaps we can see if the noise is similar. Mine is not constant at all, mine only happens on that one speed bump and its not even a rattling noise, its so loud I feel like its something else lmao.
Hope this works.

Happened to me too with my HT-Spec V2 Type 1. It started happening a few months after I installed them but I took them off since then. Mine was making the noise from the rear and it was a constant rattle.
Tried to email FF on Sunday. No response yet.

I am not sure. I have suspected the driver shock as well but if it is the shock why doesn't it happen all the time on all the bumps?? Not sure what to think. Some have suggested my top bolts might be loose?

X2 sounded like more of a scrape than a clank to me. My control arms hit my shock towers fairly often at my ride height and it's a totally different sound than that. Jack your car up and start looking for scrapes on the J-pipe or subframe.

You guys were right. I went around campus and found smaller speed bumps and no noise, all the bumps I encountered today I went over them....no noise. Something is scraping, can't see what it is....just going to avoid those kind of bumps from now on.
I removed the wheels and inspected the coils again and they look brand new, not greasy or oily at all. They look the same as they did when they first went in.
I have to say these coils are really rough, I feel every bump, however, they are not bouncy but I do move around sometimes when I hit big bumps. The commute to school is a awful 45 mile commute filled with the potholes, broken roads, uneven roads, dips, etc, etc lol.
Been driving real slow recently avoiding every bump, many people get really annoyed LOL, maybe I should get a "I love to drive slow" plate frame.

Have you set the preload correctly? The settings in the PDF manual are wrong according to Marcus.
Edit: forgot you have the FF coilovers not HTSpec. Not sure if the specs carry over.
