Floating What?....

Past few weeks I noticed a clicking noise from the right rear wheel. Took it to the Dealer, he stated its common, just your Floating Caliper.

He said he sprayed I guess a little lubricant or something, no noise. Now 2 days later the noise is back. Should I insist on a replacement (caliper) or live with the clicking floating caliper?

Your comments and opinion is appreciated

The floating caliper is designed to move laterally on its mount as this movement allows the caliper to maintain a centered position with respect to the rotor and the braking force to be equally applied to both sides of the rotor. Need to have the caliper, sliders, and pads inspected for any play. Normally you'll find it's the pads that move inside the caliper and at times caliper grease will correct the problem.

no.. not necessarily.. you just need to inspect the caliper and make sure all parts & play are in order.. adjust / replace accordingly.

Dealer claims this is normal.....but I don't think so. Will insist on replacement or repair since my warranty is up next month.
