Fixing airbag warning light on problem with code 61-10
I fixed my airbag warning light staying on problem (with error code 61-10: open in left front seat belt buckle switch) for my 05 TL. I'd like to share my experience and hope it can help others who have the same problem.
Firs of all, at lease as far as I can tell, the problem with error code 61-10 is covered by a Acura lifetime warranty so if this is your problem you can let Acura dealer fix it for free. But I don't feel like to drive 20 miles to a dealership so I handled it myself.
Here is how I fixed it. Of course it's all based on my own experience.
In my case, the symptom is if I don't plug in driver's seat belt when starting the engine the airbag light will turn off normally. Once I plug in driver's seat belt the airbag light will turn on and stay on. If I plug in driver's seat belt before turning on the engine, after the engine turns on, the airbag light will turn off briefly, blink once then turn back and stay on.
Another detail about the symptom. I noticed when plug in the driver's seat belt there are clicking sounds come out from the lower portion somewhere near the bottom part of the driver side rear door. I didn't bother to find out exactly where they come from but that really doesn't matter to my problem. The key is I heard 2 clicking sounds. To hear the sounds easily, I just turned on the ignition but didn't turn on the engine then plugged the driver's seat belt in. When plugging in slowly I could clearly hear 2 clinking sounds from the bottom rear door on the driver side. If going really slow and smooth, I could stop in the middle after hearing the 1st click sound to make the 2nd click sound do not happen. If I did the slow and smooth plug in when the engine was running, I saw the airbag warning light turning on only after the 2nd click sound. If I stopped plug in after the 1st click sound the airbag light would not turn on.
Enough about the symptom. To fix the problem, I opened up driver's side seat belt buckle. There are 2 small screws on the driver's side of the buckle. You need to use a special star tip screwdriver to loose them. Once opened, I saw there is a small switch that has a level attached to it. Plug in the seat belt will push the level which will push in a little button on the switch. I surrounded the buckle with a paper tower then squeezed some WD-40 toward the little button. May be 3 or 4 times. Then pushed/released the level for about 10-20 times when the ignition was on but engine was not running. In the beginning each push would still generate 2 click sounds but after some pushes/releases each push would generate only one click sound. At this point the problem was fixed.
It's been 2 weeks my airbag light is all normal.

I had similar issue:
Start engine with seat belt off. Airbag light stays on.
Start engine with seat belt on. Airbag light stays off.
If light is off and I unbuckle, it comes on and stays on.
This was a seat belt buckle issue. Covered by the lifetime warranty on restraints by the dealer.
They ordered the new buckle and it took about 1.5-2 hours for them to install, once the part was in.
