Fix for too dim TL Type S steering wheel lights

Guys;

the dim red steering wheel lights on my TLS are really starting to bug me. I had an 05 TL that was plenty bright but the TLS red lights on the steering wheel are
unproportionately dim compared to the rest of the dash. Is it possible to change out the light for a brighter one? Just wondering if anyone had any success doing this. thx.

possibly the "condoms" on the bulbs are blocking out too much light, switch over to LEDs?

If I recall correctly you need the following, which Vleds does not sell
http://www.superbrightleds.com/specs/NEO.htm

The Neo3-x

Oh ya, and you will have to remove the airbag in order to get to them.

But remember, this is for 04-06, not sure how the Type-S is, but I'm sure its the same

hmm i don't feel comfortable removing the air bag. Is this LED significantly brighter than stock? Is it a direct replacement, no wire or modding needed?
