Fender Removal

I need to remove the damaged RH (Passengers side) fender from my 05 acura TL to replace with a pre painted one. If anyone has done this before I can provide any useful tips, it would be greatly appreciated. Also, would the bumber need to be removed?

Thanks

bumper comes off... headlight comes off....fender bolts come off... side skirt comes off. then the wheel well garnish comes off and ur fender. enjoy...it aint fun. and prepainted i wouldnt recommend unless ui have it resprayed or if ur lucky enough and the paint matches then no prob but paint really depends on environment and when and how it was painted.....even if its from the factory the paint may not match so if its sprayed then you can have it blended.

IIRC, you dont have to remove the headlight. Just have to unbolt where the headlight bolts to the fender and it should slip right off...

Remove front bumper...
4 or 5 plastic screws under the hoood to remove the plastic
2 clips holding the bumper on the radiator support
1 screw (each fender well) holding bumper to fender
3 or 4 plastic clips + 1 screw holding the front of the fenderliner to the bumper
6-10 bolts/clips underneath the front bumper holding the bumper to the frame

Now remove the plastic trims under the hood over the fender bolts 4 or 5 plastic screws

Now remove the side skirt (front half only)
2 or 3 plastic clips under the car holding the side skirt to the frame
4 screws holding the fenderliner to the side skirt
Slide forward

now its time to remove the fender...
3-5 bolts holding the fender to the frame (under the hood)
1 bolt tucked under the rubber trim (far driver corner of the windshield)
1 bolt in the driver door jam
2 bolts holding the fender to the frame (area where the side skirt used to be)
1 bolt holding the fender to the headlight which holds it to the frame of the car.

Now dont just rip the fender off after that you still have to unclip the sidemarker..

Now reverse the process to install..hope this helps

Thumbs down

Thank you so much for the answers. Luxstat, I can tell you have done this before.

Does anyone else think I will have an issue color matching with a pre-painted fender color matched by VIN?

My TL is an '05

definatly wont match. your paint is 4yrs old, its faded even though you think its not it is..only thing you have to do is blend ur door hood bumper. not to mention your bumper is already an off color from the rest of the car is MOST of our TL's are.
