Faint knocking/thumping sound under light braking
I still don't like the forum search
Long story short, I needed to get stuff done to my car because at the time I didn't have the tools or time or resources to get the stuff done myself so I bit the bullet and went to the dealer to get it done.
So 2 months ago I went to the dealer. I got new front and rear brake pads installed, 1 new front rotor since only 1 could be resurfaced, and replaced both front side tie rods. They said I had one broken motor mount but didn't get it fixed.
Fast forward to a few weeks ago. I started noticing a faint (not loud) knocking/thumping sound from the front of the car under light braking. Not under heavy braking. Not when normal driving or turning or going over bumps, only under breaking around 0-10mph. Best example is if I slow down to a light or stop sign I can hear it starting at 10mph and slower. Or if I'm already stopped and let off the brakes for a second and creep forward it makes the sound again. I've tried putting it in reverse at a decent speed and hitting the breaks and I couldn't really hear the sound.
And it seems like it is easier to hear the sound after some driving/after the brakes heat up.
I don't think it would be the mount because I'm sure I could hear that other times other than just during light braking.
I'm thinking it has got to be something with the pads. Maybe the pads are shifting in the calipers? Or maybe one or two bad brake pads? Any suggestions? I am going back to the dealer this weekend and want to try to be as ready as possible so they don't tell me some bullshit like my muffler bearings need to be replaced

No the sound isn't coming distinctly from one side.
Fuck inertia . I can drive smoothly and very slowly and I can hold down on the brake but not causing any 'inertial movements' and it still makes the sound.

FWIW you could have a stiff caliper that you can hear pressing ever so slightly on the rotors. I'd jack the car up and spin each wheel to see if you can replicate the sound while the car is in neutral.

Well I took a ride in it with a tech at the dealer and he heard it too. They took it n and checked it out and they said all the brake stuff looks good so they are ruling that out. But they said they heard a light clicking sound when they turn the wheel.., and they now are thinking it might have to do with the axle.
I think I'm do for an axle replacement anyways with 134k miles. I've heard the OEM axles have gone down in price from a few years ago, is that the same for the '04 Automatic axle? Any estimate how much the dealer would charge for the service?

Having exact same issue on my 2016 Acura TLX , took it to dealer , charged me 300 bucks for replacing the transmission fluid and a software update , but still have the issue. I was thinking maybe bad axle cause that sound!!!
