failure rate of side mirror motors?

I bought my 06TL a year ago. It was a dealer loaner, 1 yr old with about 12k miles on it and now has ~29k miles. Once of the minor problems I noticed shortly after I purchased the car was that the driver's side mirror would jitter when pointing down as it would automatically do when putting the car in reverse. The dealer replaced the mirror group and motor (I guess it is one big kit). I flipped the switch so the passenger mirror would drop on going into reverse as that is more useful for parallel parking but now the passenger mirror is exhibiting the same symptoms. I'm sure the dealer will replace the mirror/motor under warranty but I'm surprised to have both fail so quickly. Is this a common problem or does the side mirror motor have a high failure rate?

Thanks,
Jon

It's seems to be a pretty common problem. If you search, you'll find some info on it. I'm bringing my car in Thursday for the same issue. I told them both are not working correctly.

it needs to be lubed, My delaer didn't want to replace them, so they lubed them and they work pretty well now.

My right side mirror only does it when its cold out side. Well, OK, cold for S. Florida... like 60. Other than that, it works fine.
