Factory Alarm keeps going off

It started doing it tonight, I lock the car & a few minutes later the factory alarm goes off. It did it 3 times now. Any thought as to what it may be? I'm guessing a bad door latch censor.

Yes i would check that first. This happened to me a while back and i took a hammer to the latch and straightened it out and it took care of the problem.

Might check for leaks from the sunroof into the HFL unit too, heard guys were having trouble locking and unlocking due to that.

#1 Is it raining/snowing outside?

#2 are your sunroof drains clogged up?

#3 check your fuse box by the driver foot panel to make sure it's dry.

#4 check the passenger side kick panel to see if everything there is dry.

#5 the over head console has hfl unit and home link unit, make sure those are dry.

#6 perform alarm reset procedure. Put key in door, unlock, lock and unlock, get in car and start it. All set!

On my car it turns out that my hfl unit was wet. Put your hand on the console and feel if its warm. If its warm, your hfl is no good.

how old is your battery? when my battery started to fail, it made the car do some funny things. alarm going off, lights flashing, etc.

replaced battery with a fresh one and no more problems.

factory hood pin could also be causing your problem. Make sure that you have the hood closed completely or maybe lubricate the hood release mechanism. Works the same as the door pins.

Dealer called today, it is a bad switch in the driver side door, part will be in on tuesday, covered under extended warranty. Also battery was load tested and bad, covered under warranty since its less then 2 years old. At least they found the problem.

Mine had the bad battery as well but did this even with a good battery. Either way, I hope this solves your problem.

Your post may be related to my issue with my 97 Acura CL. I've had the alarm going off in the past and had to pull the alarm fuse every time I parked. We thought we had it licked several years ago until a couple of weeks ago when I ended up locked inside my car for half an hour with the alarm going off after the car door lock froze. I am sure that it's moisture accumulating inside the driver's side door, and then freezing, that is causing an intermittent short. Mine is far more likely to happen when it's damp in some way - ground fog, snow, rain, etc.

Thanks Legitka9! My 2009 Acura TL car alarm started going off at 3:58 a.m...30 seconds later, my husbands truck alarm started going off...phone call to 911....police came...no bad guys around! Much to my disappointment, my Acura alarm kept going off randomly for the next 30 minutes. Yes it is a very rainy/windy night...Finally got smart....googled the problem...read your tip on putting the key in the door, unlock, lock, unlocked...started the car...it's been an hour since then and so far so good! I am keeping my fingers crossed! Thanks for posting!

leaking moon roof

guys - while i'm sure this isn't the sole problem, I know its one that i've seen listed the most and is the problem with mine - leaking moon roof. water is getting into both the HFL and running down the pillar and down to the fuse box near the driver foot....alarm issue only happens when its raining. I disabled the hood pin as this one another common listed solution but that didn't fix it. while I haven't yet searched; anyone know how to fix the leaking moon roof? I imagine just need to purchase all new seals and replace. At least the main one since this is obviously where its starting. Are there other seals?

Not too concerned about having an alarm and am fine just disabling it completely as the car has become my alternative ride as I just bought a BMW M3 - still love the Acura and is a good car at 217,000 miles (despite replacing the engine....check old posts if you're interested) but the 420 HP factory M3 is the car I've been dreaming of since I started wrenching cars back when I was a kid. Got a supercharger too that will take it to 550 HP when I'm done installing it.

The sunroof drain tubes are probably blocked. There are a few threads on it. Use compressed air to blow them out.

I'm late to this party.

I have an '06 TSX with these random alarm issues. I've already checked the door sensors mentioned in the TSX section for this issue and don't seem to find it to be the culprit.

The discussion in this thread seems to be more accurate to what I'm dealing with. Since the issue occurred during the night, I pulled the horn stop fuse from under the hood and left the hood slightly ajar. Not sure if the lights flashed from the alarm overnight but car started with no issues this morning so I am going with no as I assume it would have drained my battery.

I put the fuse back in to drive to get the battery tested (one possible culprit) but now I can't shift out of park. I was able to manually "unfreeze" the shift knob using the little hole to the left of it, but now my VSA warning is going off after starting the drive.

If you're still reading I guess my question is if anyone knows if any of the above possible issues can be pinpointed based on the my symptoms of the shifter and VSA.
