External Temperature Gague Stuck

Hello, all. I have an '08 TL and for the last three days the external temperature gague has been reading "70" even though it has been in the upper 90s here. I know the owner's manual describes how to manually adjust the reading by 5 degrees up or down, but when it is off by more than 20 degrees, I'm not sure that is the right fix. Any thoughts?

Thanks.

check your owner book for sure on location- should be just under the hood latch in front of the radiator
The outside coolant sensor probe
If paper or something has gotten in and stuck...

You can pull it from its clip and place in a glass of water with ice- so its close to 32 degrees and see what happens on the readout
Could be faulty sensor- warranty item
The guage is really to alert you of near freezing temps, so you are aware of potential icing on the road and bridges.
