Exhaust sounds like a damn tractor
Exhaust sounds like a damn tractor
So i have a full atlp exhaust, rv6 jpipe, and high flow pre cats. I have a check engine light for catalytic converters going bad. and all of a sudden my car sounds like a damn tractor. I checked for possible exhaust leaks or holes but there are none. could this be due to a the high flow pre cats going bad after only 4 years and around 70K Miles?

when you replace a stock piece for an aftermarket piece, you trade off certain aspects, like reliability.
if the engine is moving; due to bad engine mounts, it will move, shock, vibrate the entire exhaust system.
so, the exhaust leak could be close to the heads(catalytic converters) or near the tail end of the car, or some where in the middle.
IT Will be your job to investigate where the sound is coming from.
once you've narrowed down the sound, you can replace the respective part with a new one, or mend it up.
but it will require you to; lift the car, turn on car, get underneath car and physically figure out where air is blowing out of.
