Engine swap??

I have a 2005 TL with a all type S stuff installed. Previous owner took everything from a typeS and put it on the base cause of a reck... Anyway will a 3.5 from a newer TL Rl or mdx fit in a acura tl? I know the type S has a 3.5, I was just asking cause my buddy has a Mdx turbo motor than he doesn't need.

Even if it fits, that would be a gigantic undertaking. Unless the TL's engine is totaled, it's definitely not worth it just for the upgrade.

I just have a strange rattle noise when I first crank it up, but then it goes away with the heated up then that the motors runs good.

Low pitched rattle. Not sure on the timing belt. It's not all the time just started since it got cold out side I am planning to change it soon I just hate timing belts as I am a certified Toyota mechanic. And in the past week I have done 4 on the v6 Lexus. 😠😠 But on these motors I heard you have to take off the cams and such.

These engine timing belt are pretty easy to do. The only hard part is the crankshaft bolt, and working in a limited space. You don't need to take off the camshaft and its very easy to do the belt since it is only a SOHC vs a DOHC v6. I recommend changing out the water pump.

I was wondering why they Was in some kits that I looked at. Well I guess I won't be changing that then. But if I am there that deep I'm going to go head and do the pump tho. But I still dnt think the noise is coming from there tho.

you would be better off trying to make a frakenmotor and letting the ECM run it
