Engine Mounts Replacement Time & Q

Hi all,

For those that did their own engine mounts, a friend is going to replace my 06's front and side engine mounts and want to get an idea how many hours would it take to do the job. In addition, the vacuum hose may be removed and put back on from the bottom of the car when the front mount is installed in place. Is this correct?

Thanks in advanced,
MikeTC

experienced ppl can get both done in an hour

the first time I did mine took a longer than expected, but i'm pretty confident that I could do front and side mount in an hour

your second question doesnt make sense. if you are replacing with OEM, re-install hose. if installing aftermarket mount, you can either rip out that vacuum line all the way from the manifold to the front and rear...or you can plug it

Thanks for the info justnspace; it's OEM mounts that we're installing. I want to see how much slack you get from the vacuum hose, could you remove and re-install the hose from the top of the car, or do you re-install it from the bottom of the car after the front mounts' nuts are fasten?

just let the vacuum hose hang, there's no slack as there is exactly the right amount to attach to the front mount. same as the rear.

So just re-attach the hose from the bottom of the car after the 4 mounting nuts are fastened? It does not look like there is rooms from the top.

^there's only one way to pull off the vacuum hose because it's so short. leave it hanging.
install new mount and then plug back in vacuum hose the same way you took it off, because it's short.

Off topic here, but I replaced the engine mounts on my '07 recently. It eliminated what felt like a tranny slip developing. I was very happy.

My friend replaced the front and side engine mounts today, all the clucking noises left over after compliance bushings replacement are now gone. My '06 TL with 115K mi is finally whole and quiet again. Happy New Year and have a great 2017 my Acurazine friends!!

i replaced my side and front mounts few month ago, took me a good 3 hours. the back one i haven't done yet but you'll have to do it under the car. front and side are pretty straight forward there is just a lot of stuff you need to remove to get access to them

04' motor mounts busted.

I took my 04' into the shop today and was quoted $1200 to replace 4 mounts. From reading other comments on various threads. This sounds like a rip off. I know it depends on which mounts are in need of replacement, but I'm seeing a rip no matter which 4 mounts have to go. I'm waiting on a call back to see exactly which mounts need to be replaced. Advice is appreciated.

It would be best to identify the specific mounts for this discussion. Yes, $1,200 sounds like a lot. For the front and side mounts, I was quoted $750 from a Honda dealer and my co-worker had them replaced by an Acura dealer for $1,000 so $1,200 from stealership is pretty much in line of their pricing. In my situation, I got both mounts for $220 on the net and my friend charged me $120 to put them in for 3 hrs of his time. I could have done this myself but he needs the work and I was happy to stayed warm and out of my unheated garage.

riceclout, my buddy told me he only moved the antifreeze reservoir (one screw) and one of the radiator hose (one clamp) out of the way so what else did you moved/removed. A youtube guy said he only moved the reservoir out of the way and didn't even need to remove the hose.
