Engine "Lock"

Engine "Lock"
First post, so be kind.
I have a 2005 TL Navi with about 2800 miles (6000KM). I was driving on the highway today, accelerating, when I got "stuck" at 4000 rpm...accelerating would not rev it up...I was in drive...
After a minute or two it corrected itself.
Is this a known problem? Is this a major symptom (i.e. Lemon alert?)
I am taking it back to the dealer, but they didn't seem convinced anything major was wrong.
Thoughts or comments?

I need more information and clarification. What do you mean by stuck at 4000 rpm?
You mean the car would not go beyond 4000 rpm?
Is this an automatic transmission or manual?
Was the engine and transmission at normal operating temperature? How much time elapsed from startup of the car to when it was stuck at 4000 rpms?

I was driving about 10 minutes after startup, and it was 28 degrees F. The car would not rev past 4000. I was driving in Automatic, but I switched it to manual when this happened--it was stuck in 2nd gear and I couldn't shift up or down. When I tried to accelerate, the needle wouldn't move past 4000 or increase past 60 mph--it was like the engine was "stuck".

Otherwise, call Acura Customer Service if the dealership insists nothing is wrong and this is normal behavior.
Watch the dealership read your codes. I hope that something logged a code in the computer as to why you were rev stuck.
Something was telling the computer control system to rev limit the engine. It may not be a transmission problem since the computer can override the human inputs in SS (Sport Shift) mode.
Keep a journal of the times, dates, mileage and conditions that this problem occurs. I do not know what Canadian laws are regarding what we call in the states "Lemon Law" for cars. Google search or perhaps another Canadian can assist you on the laws for cars with problems that they cannot fix.
Keep us posted on your progress.

Engine Lock
Took my TL into the dealer today...said the throttle sensor was defective and have ordered a new one to install. It's backordered, but should be in next week.
I haven't had any more instances of the lock, but we'll see what happens.
