Engine code P2646 On 07 TL-S
Hey guys this is my first thread so please be kind and like the title says i got the code P which i know is VTEC Oil Pressure Switch Circuit Low Voltage and only thing is i don't know what that means but my car is in limp mode with check engine light.
now i did search the forum and did not find much on this subject but i did find out that someone else had the same code but it was for a 4th gen so I'm not sure how similar the two are in codes and what not. With that said the first thing i could do was check the oil level and it was low so i just changed it with the filter because i found this
I also disconnected the battery to reset the ecu and see if the code popped up again -it hasn't- but the car is still in limp mode i think, now the car redlines at 4800 rpms and i read somewhere on this forum that the vtec solenoid kicks in at 4800 rpms
And thats where I'm stuck i not sure if its the oil pressure switch or the solenoid or something else but if it is one of the two would it be easier or beneficial to just get VALVE ASSY., SPOOL - 2007 ACURA TL (15811-RCA-A01) reference #10 from OEMACURAPARTS.COM i just need your expertise
Thanks guys

The easy thing to check is turn the wheel all the way to the right and look right above the oil filter (that blue thing) if the connector and wires are ok. That is the VTEC oil pressure switch. Next in your list is to check the oil level. If its too low the VTEC will not fire, even if the conditions are right, therefore throwing an engine code. If that is OK and based on previous experiences with VTEC engines, the first thing that goes bad is the Solenoid. It is in the same assembly as the switch (if I recall correctly).
PS. I haven't looked at mine yet, but the VTEC oil pressure switch on this version of the J engine may be next to the intake manifold?

My advice would be to unplug the batter to see if the code comes back... but I see that you already did that. So I hate to say that I can't help you out.
But here is a bump to keep you on top of the search...
