Unhappy Electrical Surge..?

So my car (07 TL Type S 5AT) has been having this problem for a bit over a month now.
While I'm driving, out of nowhere, everything electrical just shuts off. All the gauges go to zero, nav shuts off, I can't even accelerate (if it happens while im already accelerating it will stop doing so) and the throttle is completely non responsive. This lasts for about one or two seconds and then everything comes back on, and the Nav will ask me to enter the nav code.
This has happened on MANY different occasions, sometimes it would happen twice within minutes of each other. I want to take it to the dealer but the problem is the check engine light doesn't always come on.
Normally (if you can call it that) if it happens just once everything will reset and seemingly go back to normal. Sometimes when it happens twice in a row (not every instance), the check engine light will go on, but it's always when I can't go to the dealer at the time.

The check engine light also goes away if I leave the car off for a couple hours so I can't just go the next morning.

I searched the forums and couldn't find any related info. Any insight would be appreciated, thanks.

Check the battery cables, clamps and ends for tightness and corrosion-- the negative clamp often gets loose, the negative ground gets loose somewhat less frequently, and the positive clamp corrodes enough to check every 3-4 months.
Several members have had the corrosion continue down the positive cable for a couple of feet, thus requiring replacement.

G/L.
