Electrical Flutter when Turning Ignition

Unusual problem has happened about four times now...

2004 TL 5-AT, Navi

Unlock the car with the key fob, put the key in the ignition, and... the doors lock and try to relock, the dash lights flicker on and off, and the car generally seems to struggle to start. Tapping the gas usually turns over the engine, or else I have to turn the ignition back to stop, then turn key the key to start. Usually works on the second turn/try.

Any ideas what's going on here? The car is entirely original except for a replacement battery about 6 months ago.

Thanks in advance for the suggestions and assistance.

Not an OEM battery, and I was unfortunately in a pinch and I think the replacement came from AutoZone.

i think you answered your own question the autozone battery might be a dud.. most batterys come with a warranty though like a year or somthing. dying 6months into it is def premature. if you have the receipt go back and get a new one, or maybe use that credit to get a higher end one.

Thanks. I'll give that a shot first. So not the alternator or anything more serious?

well it could be, but most of the problems you described are eletrical like the lights fluttering, def sign of a bad battery. if the problem persist then have acura pop your hood

Optima is always good.. so is Braille... not sure what else...

i think the Red-top is what you'd need.. .yellow top is for big audio systems

Costco Kirkland. Costco has Optima red as well(yellow on a stock car is a little too pimping ). PS What was that HFL TSB for. Wasn't there a bad drain because of faulty HFL unit? I am having the same problem, 480 Cranking amps left on the OEM battery. i have noticed with Costco they don't put their name on crap. IMO :-)
