Dust accumulates inside radio display, is this normal?

Our TL is now about 8k old and has seen it's (un)fair share of time at the dealer for many minor quirks and rattles, including the poorly designed headliner sagging. Now, we noticed our radio face plate is accumulating dust inside the display. I have heard that these face plates are supposedly sealed, but ours is obviously not! It is okay at night and at times during the day, but when the sun is at an angle it really shows it's dusty ugliness. Has anyone else experienced this weird oddity and should this merit another trip to the dealer?

Very slight film yes (as to be expected with all the out gassing going on) Dust specs or particles no. As you say it is only when the sun hits just right. That's hardly ever for me. How many new rattles do you want in exchange for tearing out a HU and cleaning the bezel if that's even possible or if the dealer will do it. I doubt they will unless it is really bad.

dealer bound

I managed to get it into the dealer and they fixed a rear deck rattle, healiner sag issue, and they are in the process of fixing the radio display. Now just need to play the waiting game as it must be ordered. I believe they are replacing the entire unit as the unit is sealed. I was wondering what you meant by the out gassing portion of your response. thanks.

"the release of gases or vapors by a material over time" It's what fogs/film your windshield even when you are a non-smoker. The amount of outgassing varies with materials but vinyl and other plastics are usually a big culprits. Often you will see it on the back side of spedometer windows as well.
