Drone with mid muff delete? How to fix?

I have a 06 tl. I removed ONLY the mid muffler. Sounds great but while waiting at a red light while the car is in drive, there is a loud drone. How do you fix this? otherwise the car sounds great!

Hmmm... Good question? I had my mid-muffler removed and replaced my resonator with a Dynomax model. No drone at all. I've gotten used to it now, and I'm kind of wishing that the note was just a little bit deeper myself.

what does removing the resonator (a peice that is supposed to quiet down the exhaust) with another resonator do?

I'm not sure, but I think you might be the first person to slap two resonators on a TL.

your misunderstanding me. I removed the mid muffler. Im saying IF I remove the resonator, and replace it with a dynomax one, what does it do!

Aye! My apologies, brah! Like myron said above, it alters the sound of the exhaust a bit more than just the removal of the mid-muffler. I think it makes it a bit louder, but I have never been able to compare the two "stages" other than some shitty audible bits on youtube. Search under performance for resonator delete. There is a really long thread that details everything that should help you decide what you want to do next, if anything.

I forgot to ask, what will cancel out the drone when in drive (automatic) stopped at a red light?

I have heard of this dynomax resonator, but ppl r saying it's raspy, I wouldn't mind my exhaust a little louder, but i want the damn drone done!

there shouldn't be any drone at idle just from removing the mid-muffler. you may want to have them check for a leak. maybe they didn't weld the replacement pipe correctly.

I am pretty sure they welded it fine, and if there was a leak, why would a drone appear only at idle when at a red light?

what will putting a new dynomax resonator on do?

good god! I am glad I live in San Diego. That must be aluminized pipe and not SS. in any case the welds do look a bit rough. I have the mid removed and oem resonator replaced w/ dynomax resonator and no drone. salt FMFL

Well they say it is a stainless steel pipe, but in canada they use a shit load of salt, so I dont know really. The oem pipe is also rusted like that so I dont know what that is made out of. Either way I will have it check this week!

do you have sound clips of your dynomax resonator? im trying to decide between the dynomax and magnaflow!

A leak won't give you any sort of drone.

Dynomax will change the tone - may or may not get rid of the drone. It will sound more aggressive

Everyone is saying it's a leak, and it would cause a drone, so now I confused. lol

Take it to an exhaust shop to have someone look at it while it is in the air.
