Driving in high water. Battery light came on

Driving home today in a crazy downpour. In New Orleans, 5 minutes of rain causes the roads to turn into rivers. On my way home from work is a 2 lane road so I had no where to go. I know better than to drive in water that is too deep. This water wasn't deep enough to get water sucked into the engine. However, as I was driving slow, I noticed the power steering become sluggish and then noticed the battery light indicator on the dashboard light up. I immediately pulled knot the nearest driveway (I work in a rural area) and turned off the car for about five minutes. I was pretty sure I hadn't sucked water into the engine so I decided to try and start it up. It did start just fine. It was still downpouring and I knew the roads would only get worse so I drove on. The battery light flashed once more so I stopped at a gas station and popped the hood. Everything I could see was dry including the battery. I waited a few more minutes and drove home with no more issues

Could the water have done something to my electrical system? My battery is the top of the line one from SAMs that is around 1 yr old. Should I have a mechanic look at it tomorrow? Or if it starts in the morning with no other issues then am I fine?

I haven't tried to start my car since I got home around 6 this evening.

Just wanted to get y'all's opinion.

Thanks in advance!

Probably serpentine belt got wet and was slipping therefore alternator was not producing enough voltage and gave you a warning light.
As soon as it dried up belt stopped slipping.

probably your drive belt got wet and slipped on the alternator pulley.

Really? I live on the Westbank and barely got any rain where I was at. Saw on the news about heavy rain and flooding everywhere though...
