Driver's side HID stuck
Hi all. I am new to the AZ community... Hoping someone can help me with an HID problem.
I purchased a 2007 TL AT about a month ago. I noticed the driver's side highbeams have an issue. It simply doesn't work. I've done a lot of searching (here, google, etc.) and learned that TL headlights move a flap to achieve high/low beams. Apparently my driver's side flap is stuck. A local Honda dealer first quotes me $200 for a new "bulb" but I explained to him the bixenon flaps. He looked again and said that the solenoid was bad and it would be $800 to fix.
I don't feel like his inspection was very thorough.
So I'm wondering if the solenoid is actually bad. I'm thinking a wire could be loose or perhaps the flap itself is stuck. How can I test the whole setup (solenoid, flap, etc.)?
From my Googling about this problem, it seems many people like to retrofit TL HIDs on other cars. As such, there is no shortage of TL HID projectors. If I do actually have a bad solenoid, is there anyway to buy just a solenoid? I've found a website called "theretrofitsource" which sells TL HID projectors for both driver and passenger side for $205. If I buy new projectors, will they come with flaps and solenoids?
Any other advice is appreciated of course. I may completely misunderstand HIDs since this is all information I've pasted together from the internet.
Thanks all.

It could be possible that the solenoid is bad. I'm not how you can test this. If its under warranty they'll have to replace the whole headlight. If you plan on trying to fix this yourself you'll have to open the headlight assembly to gain access to the projector itself. I do have an extra 07 projector laying around if you want it for $100. There is a harness that connects to the solenoid you can gain access too from behind the headlight, it'll be in the bottoms of the projector.
