Driver's door weatherstripping wearing
Okay, so I am a big guy and I park on a slight grade in my driveway. Over the last 6 months of my 06 TL I have worn a hole through the rubber weatherstripping as I roll out of the driver's exit.
Since I first noticed it wearing, I have been more conscious of it but my seat position and the slight lean backward when I get out of the car, in my driveway has caused this situation.
The dealer talked me out of replacing it when I first noticed the wear as it was obviously going to wear through. They are now going to replace it for me under warranty. They say the rubber is a little softer to give the closure a more noise and air tight seal.
Anyone else having the same issue?
Anyone else with warranty issues as a result?
Thanks

I have the same problem (2005TL). I didn't even notice the weatherstripping wearing... I blew out the side seam on all of my pants first! Thought my cell phone (or my arse) was too big at first, then happened to notice the weatherstripping. Dealer said they would warranty it one time only. I heard this was a problem on the 1st generation TL as well....

Hey fellow Toronto TL-er!
I too went to Acura of Markham with regards to that issue. I noticed a "hole" on my weatherstripping and asked them if they could replace it. After the third attempt, they told me also that it was for a better air-tight seal. They proved this to me by showing me another hole on the sunroof's weatherstripping. There is NO way high traffic would of caused the hole in the sunroof's weatherstripping, so what they explained to me seemed correct.
ps- I noticed the hole on the sunroof weatherstripping when the car was initially purchased and it has been fine.
