Anyone ever replaced hinges? How tough is it to do? 2004 TL. Thanks.

 

what is wrong with the hinges? You will have to remove the door from the hinge and then hinge from car. Front fender removal may be needed to get front hinge bolts out

 

Has movement up and down Maybe a bad bushings or pin? Was told to replace door hinges. Seal at top of door is leaking slightly .

 

Been there, done that.

It's a two person job. The doors are heavy. There is some adjustment so you will probably have to struggle a bit to get the gaps right.

Front doors: IIRC, you'll need to remove the front fenders to get to the bolts, which means the bumper and lights will have to come off and unclip the front skirt. The nice thing is that the door wiring harness just unplugs at the door opening.

Rear doors: You'll need to remove the B pillar trim to get to the hinge nuts. I recommend you fish out the wiring harness first if you're going to pull off the door.

You might be able to leave the door closed while you swap out the hinges. Proceed with caution if you attempt it.
