Driver side vibration @ 60 to 70 MPH

Hello all!

I am currently having a vibrating issue on my 2008 TL Base w/~54k miles. It is only happening when I am traveling at 60 to 70 mph. I can feel it coming from my front driver side. It is a light vibration that I can feel in the steering wheel.

Ever since I started to feel the vibration:
- I have had the tires balanced twice at different locations
- Wheels rotated
- Checked upper and lower ball joints (nothing is torn)
- Checked axles, and cv boot (nothing is torn)
- Had a brakes and rotors checked

Any idea on what else it could be?

The TL wheels are a bear to get perfect, long story short, on our '04 I need to use the lug adapter plate to balance the tires as the cone is a no go.

rotate tire to another wheel and see if the vibration follows.
it could be a bad tire or bent rim.

I had discount tires balance them, but it looks like they don't use the Hunter balancing system. I will have to give Les Schwab a try and see if it'll solve the problem.

I also did rotate the wheels around to see if it was a bent rim, but I still felt the vibration. I have an extra set of 17's that I can throw on and see if it'll solve the issue.

The wheel is not bent. But I will have to check the bushings to make sure that there is no rip or anything.

Thank you!

I have not check those yet. I will add that to my list of things to have my mechanic check.

I talked to my mechanic over the phone yesterday and he is saying that it is most likely warped rotors. But I will have him diagnose it when I get some time off from work.

Did the shop check with a machine to ensure there were no bends? I couldn't see a bend on one of my 760 wheels yet I'd have an annoying vibration from 40-50 and 60-73MPH. Got the rim repaired and was good to go!

JasonK - it is happening occasionally when I am braking at high speeds and then goes away. But most of the time it is happening during cruising and accelerating. I'm due for new rotors and brake pads anyways, so I guess I mind as well change them now and cross my fingers it eliminates the issue.

Csmeance - I don't think they checked it on the machine. I had discount tires look at my wheels and balance (x2) them. I had a rotation done as well the second time thinking they weren't balance. Even after the rotation, the vibration is coming from the same side.

hhhmmmm,......what a dilemna

What about the tie rod ?
Have you checked that for any odd movement? Turn your wheel towards the passenger side and grab the rod and see if there's any play in the ball joint.

If you feel it in the steering wheel as you mentioned. It could be brake rotors or tie rod.

I have an appointment with the mechanic next week so hopefully he is able to nail it down when he works on brakes. Hopefully the rotors are the issue and that I don't have to start replacing everything!

Yeah I can feel it in the steering wheel slightly and then near my left foot when driving as well.

I haven't seen the mechanic yet but now I am hearing a popping sound when I make a left turn . The sound is coming from the driver side.
