Driver Rear View Mirror Clicking!!!

When i put the car in reverse, my drivers side mirror starts clicking as it tries to go down... Its almost like the motor is moving without the mirror... it turns just fine when i adjust it, but it only acts up when i go into reverse... any ideas!!!???This only happened maybe once or twice before a while back but now this is 2 days in a row...

why is your auto tilt set to the driver side? dont you want to see the curb on passenger side? thats the intent of the device--
just goes either side so car can be sold in countries with opposite side driver and same wiring harness and parts

Umm in NYC, we use both of our mirrors daily, as you can park on driver or passenger side...

My mirrors have been clicking since week two of ownership (08 tl-s).. I gave up on fixing it. Suggestions?

take it to the dealer and they'll try to lube it up. If that doesn't help, replacement of the insides is most likely since the motor is shuddering and grinding when moving the mirror.

my tl is the same. its certified so i just need to take it in. rather annoying, and the previous owner also was a fan of leaving the heated side mirror function on, as i have the yellowing on the mirrors.

Thanks Aj, but I really try to avoid dealership at all costs..we don't get along.

I guess I can take it apart and lube it, or see why it is clicking, hopefully there is a 3G link on taking it apart.

isnt it cheaper at ~70 bucks to get a backup camera that mounts on the license plate frame?

good for rear tinted window cars too- can see what behind you at night

Hmm not sure... But i just like to use the tilt down feature to be able to get as close to the curb as possible (to avoid the idiots...lol) without getting curb rash... im more worried about the sides rather than backing into something...lol

I took mine into the dealership about a month ago because both mine were making the clicking noise.....sounds like a legitimate reason to upgrade to 07-08 mirrors!~ Check out ebay. I emailed someone about some headrests in TL they were parting out the NAV unit for.

I had this problem on the passenger mirror.

The fix is to replace the actuator inside the mirror assembly itself. Dealers were originally replacing the entire mirror assembly for this issue, and when the returns were inspected, they kept discovering it was only the actuator itself that went bad. An orderable part for a lot less $$$ than replacing the entire mirror unit.

I also have a CPO TL and within a few days of taking delivery I noticed the same clicking of the mirrors. I took it in and both mirror actuators were replaced. The service tech told me there was a bulletin for this and that's why they did both.

Yeah, both my left and right mirrors were having the same problem during this last winter during freezing temps. I'm rather disappointed, I should have just purchased another Accord. I solved the problem by turning the auto tilt off and just using my neck to rotate me head around...

Not sure if you're talking about the same shutters that I had with my mirrors but if you are, there's a real easy fix for that.

If you adjust the mirrors all the way in all directions a few times it will re distribute the grease around the threads of the gears and smooth everything out.

Worked like a charm for me.

But if the problem starts up again, you will have to replace the actuator(s).
