Do I need a brake service?

Hi,

I am a new guy in the forum, I need some suggestions about my car. I bought TL 2007 two years ago with 45k KM and now it has 85k KM now. I never did the B1 service at dealer but only the oil change according to oil life indicator in a local garage near my house. I didn't feel anything wrong about my brake, I am wondering if I need a brake service or I just wait untill the brake refuse working one day in the future?

Thanks!

There are sensors to alert low pads, but I'd at least have them inspected to see how much life is remaining.

Two things can easily tell you how much life you have left on your brake pads: 1. look at the pads--you can see them through your wheels when you look sideways at the inside of your brake calipers--a flashlight can help (3/16" is getting low) 2. The pads have an audible "wear indicator" which is a little metal finger that begins to drag on the rotor and make an annoying high pitched screeching noise when your pads are low.

Brakes are a wear item. Look at your Owners Manual for the regular maintenance items like fluids and filters--those are important not to skip.

you're only halfway to B service (timing belt etc) don't worry about it.

I would suggest a brake system flush, these calipers are known to cease up especially the rear ones and flushing helps to prevent that so that is one thing you can do, other than than that wait until you pads run down. The front pads are are hard to view with the wheels on, you would need to take the wheels off to see how much wear you have on the front pads.
