^^^ check the level after you have turned the wheel lock to lock couple times.....
PS and Coolant levels are very tough to read accurately, as the reservoir level fluctuate with driving of the car....

if you see bubbles in the PS reservoir when your car is ON, replace o-rings and rebuild pump....

Checked fluid in resevoir after warming up and drivin a little longer than a mile with turns and all, goy back to my driveway turned wheel lock to lock 5 times. Fluid level is good and no air bubbles in resevoir while car is on. I was jus thinking the o ring sat in my car for a couple days, before I changed it and its been cold in ny so maybe the o ring went bad before I replaced it...

YO's
so you did the o-ring and still have the noise ?
the noise comes in when air enter the PS pump and hence the system....usually after 3-5 turns from lock to lock the air is back in the reservoir and out of the system as the PS system has a return line and unlike the Brake system, where if there is any air in the system, you need to bleed the system again....
this is what i would do:
start your car and see if there are bubbles in the reservoir, if there are bubbles, look into rebuilding your PS pump (all seals and gaskets)....

Majofo just saved me a bunch of money! The only thing I'm pissed about is that my local acura dealer charges 2 dollars for the new ring. Oh well beats buying a new pump.
#428
Thank you so much Majofo! The O-ring was a little harder to take out so I had to use a flathead screwdriver to pry it out. Other than that, it went smooth as a baby's butt!
Now to change the Power Steering fluid!

I don't know if this has been posted here yet, but here's a great video video to compliment this great DIY.
Power steering leak Acura/Honda
On a second note, I went to a local Honda dealership last week and bought a replacement o-ring to perform this DIY. What I didn't realize was that they sold me the wrong o-ring. They sold me the black ring instead of the orange one (I thought that both were black at the time). I did the DIY and the problem persisted. After finding out about, I complained to the dealership over the phone. They basically said that, since I used the part, I'm SOL and have to buy another new o-ring. I know it's only $1.50, but am I wrong here? I mean, they looked the part up on their computer and gave me the wrong part. Now I have to go through this whole process again. Anybody have this experience or have a suggestion?

For anyone in socal, dont ever go to South Coast Acura. They charged my wife $300 for this "O-ring" fix and since I was out of town and could not verify the issue over the phone she went ahead with it..
Long story short, they do nothing. the noise is back when turning. they did not even offer to replace the power steering fluid. Wouldn't you think they would considering it had been 80k+ miles ?
Upon my return, I complained because they did not 1) Call my wife to confirm it was an "o-ring issue" and 2) Did not get her authorization .. I got a free oil change and detail (gee thanks)
Bottom line, stay away from South Coast Acura. They are hurting and hungry and are looking for any reason to do services not needed. They also gave me a list of multiple services including a main seal replacement which they are quoting at $1100. They are not even good for oilchanges because I think they deliberately overfill the oil to cause engine issues... Twice in the past I received the car back with the oil level higher than the full mark. Now, I take my car to the same place I get my track S14 worked on.. how sad ... anyway, if youre in Orange County CA, stay away from South Coast Acura.. esp. if you are beyond your warranties anyway .. Thanks for reading the rant .. just looking out..

^^^ I would go back to them and talk to the manager and tell them to give a detailed invoice of why they charged your wife $800....
Even if they charged you for:
O-ring
PS fluid
Labor, it will not come upto $800....NO FREAKING WAY....
so ask them with a detailed invoice and work with Corporate Acura to get some of that credited back to you....

$300.. it's the typical dealer charge to reseal the PS pump. Definitely get a full detailed invoice.
Regarding overfill.. not surprising. The lowest guy on the totem pole does oil.. if you aren't pissed enough, take a look at your drain bolt.
Rear main seal.. take pics of the top and bottom of case. I haven't heard this issue for the 3G TL. Even a small leak is nothing to worry about.. the price they quoted is fair, but it sounds like another upsell.

So after replacing my O-ring about a week later I was driving and I see that the car was smoking from the engine. After doing some research, I found out the cause is the power steering hose.
I called Acura Client Services and am now having it towed tomorrow to the nearest acura dealership about 40 miles from where I live.
I don't want to get any surprising bills from the stealership and this is the first time my car has been towed.
My question is.. what should i make sure to get (paperwork wise) from the towing company and is there any other things that can cause to overheat because i am pretty sure it is the power steering hose. I just don't want to get a bill saying that they replaced this and that and i didn't agree on it.
Thanks to anyone in advance if they are able to help me.

Have you had the PS hose recall done yet?
