If jumping doesn't work then it's most likely:

starter solenoid or starter.

Could also be a bad cell in the battery, but since you have what appears to be normal power to your accessories and lights, I doubt it.

if you couldn't jump it from another running car, it's probably not your battery. are your connections at the battery terminal tight and clean?

starters and solenoids can go any time, without warning......

Part #31200-RKB-004 STARTER MOTOR ASSY. (SM-44242-4G) (MITSUBA) 2004 TL 256.75

Its a very easy DIY and will save you lots of money. I would try to find a used one from a junk yard off a wrecked tl first

so u jumped the car and it was running fine for 30 min? then you stopped and turned off the car and it wouldnt start again?

with the car running, disconnect the positive cable from the battery. If the car keeps running, the battery could be bad. If the car dies, the alternator is probably bad.

autozone will check it for free with a volt meter

bad idea on a honda or any other modern car with an electrical load detector....... take the battery out of the car and charge it and then have it load tested. after a full charge it should pass a load test no troubles if it fails replace it.

i've got the same problem these last few days on my '05. the battery had leaked a little, so i replaced it, but the problem still remains. it's gotta be the starter. but hey, did you change the starter yourself or take it to the dealer or repair shop?

Not someting to take to the stealer. They are WAY too proud of their starters and labor for that one. It is a simple DIY. The starter is at the top, front of the engine. And it is the same starter as many other Honda V6's. I think I had to ask for one from an Oddesy van at the local parts store. They had that one in stock for ~$130. The only difference was an extra bracket on the back. I took the bracket off and it was exactly the same as the one I had removed.

Next time you can take a wrench or something and tap the starter. Sometimes this will set the gears back and it will start. Don't be afraid to give it a good whack.

well, i had a local repair shop look it up, and he quoted me $330 for a new starter, plus labor. he said that these tl's supposedly have some kind of fancy system and as such, they're really pricey. is that true or is he mistaken?
