Dealership Claims Aftermarket Part doesn't exist
Greetings everyone.
I'm looking to replace the Positive Battery Cable on my 2006 TL.
Dealership priced the part at 80+....I asked about the possibility of an aftermarket part but they claimed that it hasn't been released yet.
They've just got this backwards right? This car is about to be 8 years old...

For $80 you could probably replace the assembly and do the big 3.
Replaces the stock assembly with 0 gauge cable, the troubling part of this one is you'd have to re-use the connector that goes to the fuse box inside of the engine bay on your big 3 cable.
There's a thread around here somewhere, I've done it to my car, I could put up some pics later.
The OEM cable is a single piece that goes from:
Starter to Battery + to Engine Bay Fuse Box

Here's the thread:

I did something similar but used knukonceptz 0 gauge kolossus flex cable. Put a grounding star on it too.
That's about the only option if you want to use aftermarket.

Do you want aftermarket for any reason other than cost? If you have time on your side, order the part from one of the vendors on here and install it yourself of take the part to your mechanic. The dealer markup is usually at least 25% over list.

Its just a damn wire- any copper wire that is the same size or bigger than the OEM cable is fine. Whats wrong with yours anyway- is it corroded? Im gonna be installing 1/0AWG welding cable because Im relocating my battery to the trunk, and Im doing the "big 3" while Im at it if I have enough left over. I bought 18' for $35 plus shipping here- http://www.wireandsupply.com/Product...F0-03&CartID=1
they have all the ring connectors too. I believe that "knu koncepts" shit on amazon is cheaper because its actually aluminum strands of wire in there, but I may be wrong.

You can buy it for $34 online:

#8 32410-SEP-A00 CABLE ASSY., STARTER 1 $34.77
It's a perfect fit and even includes nut, bolt & all wire-to-chassis clips. Can't beat that. BTW: As you can see it's a Y-cable between the battery, starter & fusebox. Good luck building that yourself.
