Dealer quote?

So I was quoted 1700$ for timing belt service parts, labor etc. looking through the site I was wondering what other stuff I should get checked while in there. 1700$ is a bit high but I don’t want to do it nor have the time on my hands right now. I asked them about the oil pump seal and they said adding that would be $3500. Is that normal to jump 1800 in cost of labor for a 5$ gasket? I know you have to drop the oil pan. But am I crazy thinking that’s high right now?

Thank you! I’m biting the bullet and doing it myself with a friend. Including the timing kit, oil pump reseal, lower front ball joints and motor mounts.

The older I get, the more I see the logic in buying new cars or slightly used, and then selling them at 50 or 60,000 miles.
especially today when used car prices are so expensive, it doesnt even make sense to trade (for another used car)
