Dealer claims Acura No longer makes Blue Xenons....
Hey fellow Ziners!
Well last year I changed my passenger HID cause it burnt out. No big deal, everything was ok wit install.
This year my driver burns out...and when I pay the wopping $235 to replace it... I go home and right before locking my car..i noticed two different light reflections on my garage door. So I step out and what do ya know... the new headlight is yellow...just like my DRL.
So I go back to the dealer and they claim...sorry, from now on, acura only makes these new looking Xenons...no more blue....i chuckled then realized... this guy really thinks Im going to believe that.
but he offers to switch it another new one just to be sure....same problem. Then I get my car back...and realize they have changed my passenger so they can both look yellow "together" lol.
I decided to call Corporate and kept my real Xeonon from the passenger in my hand while i get this sorted.
Do any of you guys or gals have this issue? Ever heard of it?
Thanks everyone!

ACURA dosen't make them, Philips makes them. They are probably just out of stock or something. Unless Philips cancelled their entire line of HIDs, there is no way they are just going to stop supplying acura with a higher temp HID

First, you change HID bulbs in pairs because the color temp changes with age.
Second, check the part numbers. http://www.acuraautomotiveparts.org/...ry3=&catcgry4=
Third, HID bulbs "burn in". They start out one color (yellow-ish) and then get bluer as they burn in. Before they go, they may take on a pink-ish color.

So how long before they turn from yellow to the original color when installed? I guess that is my real question?
also, my headlight burn outs were more than 1 year apart...does that mean everytime one burns out...i replace both and fork out alomst $400? sounds crazy to me

Dealer tried takin out my good HID from the passenger and installed it on the driver side to see if it was still blue? Turns out it still is...but when he put back the new HID...still yellow? Any reason for this?

Is this your part number:
33115-S84-A01
If so, that's what all 3G TL's come with from the factory.
How long until they "burn in"? Don't know and I am not sure how far from the "correct" color they start out. Search and you should turn up some threads. Look for headlight replacement threads.

dont goto the dealer for new HID bulbs. you can buy genuine oem philips bulbs off ebay for 80 dollars a PAIR!!
the dealer is a ripoff. and its not so hard to install yourself. theres a DIY for changing the HID bulb without taking the bumper off

Need to replace a burnt out HID headlight bulb? If the replacement bulb looks yellow instead of blue—
compared to an old bulb or one in another vehicle—don’t worry, you’ve got the correct replacement bulb.
Just go ahead and install it. All replacement HID headlight bulbs look yellow at first; they turn blue after
about 14 hours of use.
