Dead battery or something worse?

Went out earlier to start the car, all exterior/interior lights and radio work but when I go to start the car it makes a very fast clicking sound and all the lights on the dash start flashing. I jumped it and went out for a drive, so it was running for about an hour.

I just went out to start it again and it's doing the clicking/flashing again. I'm guessing/hoping it's a dead battery but the fact that all my lights/radio work and the weird dash light flashing when I attempt to start it has me a bit worried.

mine did that when the battery died. for some reason the battery has enough juice for the lights but not enough for the starter. but i would look into what could be draining the battery... could be the hands free link system that is common with the TLs.

how old is the battery?

I'm not sure. Pretty sure it's not the OEM battery but the dates aren't marked on it. I'm probably going to unhook the HFL after I get a new battery in the morning because I don't even use it.

I HOPE all is good. I had something similar but I had to replace the starter.

Shit, there have been like 20 of these same threads in the past week or 2 about this... is this the time of the year to get new batteries and replace starters?!

no joke, could be the demand is exceeding the charging system output.
