dash rattle finally fixed
dash rattle finally fixed
I bought my 2008 TL new in July 2007, and had a dash rattle ever since I bought the car. It was driving me nuts, so I took it to several dealerships- none of whom were able to resolve the concern, even with multiple chances to do so. Finally, I went to Acura 101 West in Calabassas, and it was like they knew exactly what to do to fix it. They weren't super busy the afternoon I pulled up, and the service advisor Tom Kennedy had me in & out of there in less than an hour. I couldn't thank him enough for the loaner car they gave me- which I barely even needed. When I got back in, I insisted that he test drive with me to verify the fix, and there was no hint of the noise anymore. My service experience there was excellent, and I highly recommend them for any service, especially if you haven't had any luck other places.
Yes, I would interested in knowing what the fix is as well. Hopefully it won't cost too much
as my TL is well outside of the factory warranty
Technical Bulletin Service # or any other help would be much appreciated!

I had a similar problem on my RSX and I'm guessing the solution is probably the same. I hope this helps you guys.
For the tweeter/dash rattle:
Get a piece of rubber like a vacuum cleaner belt (1" inch piece is what I used) and stick it in where plastic meet plastics area up where the tweeter (to the right or left of the tweeter) is located and voila the problem will be solved for you - jam the rubber piece in using a pair of scissors or a screwdriver - I found it hard to get my fingers into that corner area cause of the windshield.
I had this problem on my RSX (from day one) and took it into the dealer several times and they foamed the hell out of the area above the glove box and couldn't get it fixed (and foaming it won't help).
The reason why it happens when it's colder out and stops when it's later and hotter in the day is cause stuff expands when it's hotter out ... this is also why it's so hard to duplicate cause after you've been driving a bit the car warms up...
