Damn interior bulb

I went to the Honda dealer a couple days ago to order the emergency flasher's light bulb.

Keep in mind I live in Canada, too.

Well, I told the parts manager to order 35871-SAA-003.

He took forever to find the part on his computer, "because we're in Canada, things are different".

Cost me $5.

Today, I picked up the bulb.

I come home and read the part number on the bag:
35871-SDA-L01

I looked up the part number and supposedly this is a 14V 80MA bulb.

Um, first off, I asked for part number 35871-SAA-003 (which is supposedly 40MA).

Second, how am I supposed to use it in my car?

I don't know any bulb on the TL that's 80MA.

I can't return it probably, because I "special ordered" it (but I didn't special order this wrong bulb).

Anyways, what are your thoughts?

Do you think I should try putting the new bulb in?

Return it. They made the mistake, not you. Better to have the correct bulb.

I'm afraid they'll say something like US and Canada use different part numbers, etc.

And they'll also say I special ordered the item, (and yes I did, but I didn't special order the wrong bulb!)

If you can't return it, I'd try it. I googled that part number and it looks like the bulb is used in Accords.

I believe parts numbers are exactly the same from Canada to the US. I just ran that part number on acuraoemparts.com and it came up with the 14V 40MA bulb you were talking about.

I would try it but 40MA to 80MA sounds like a big difference lol

I might as well try it later on, though.

The worst thing that will happen?...

OP, did you ever get this bulb to work? I asked the acura dealer to order me a hazard bulb for my 2004 TL and they gave me 35871-SDA L01

Hey there!

I'll be glad to answer your question.

I havn't tried the bulb yet.
It still sits on my work desk.

BUT

I will install it soon.
I just ordered a whole bunch of bulbs so I'm just waiting to install ALL the bulbs at the same time.

The 35871-SDA-L01 bulb SHOULD work.

I know this because I was told actually that 35871-SDA-L01 replaced 35871-SAA-003 (the old one).

When I was ordering online the bulb 35871-SAA-003, it told me that it was replaced.

So in conclusion, install it.
The dealer gave you the right one - the updated one.

Cheers!

Thanks guitarplayer. I'm going to replace that one, my climate control, and my seat warmers this week.
