D light flashing transmission problems!!
I have a 04 tl auto transmission with 131,435 miles. Few days ago while driving 40mph the speedometer suddenly went up to 60mph. The car itself wasn't moving any faster it remained at the same speed, eventually the speedometer and the rpm dropped back t0 normal 40mph. Got to my destination, left the car on came back put it in reverse, notice it took longer than usual for tranny to engage, swtich to drive stepped on the gas nothing car wouldn't move just the rpms rising. I then moved the gear shifter left to manually change gears 1-5, car drove fine. Got home put the car in auto, stepped on gas still nothing, the only way it would move is by shifting to the left and manually changing gears. I turned the car off, restart then it drove fine no problems. Sometimes it drives fine no issues, then the transmission will lock up, d light start flashing and car won't accelerate of shift pass 20 mph. I'll pull over turn off then restart the car, most times the d light will stop flashing , the car goes back to driving normal till eventually it starts doing it again. Theirs no set time frame when it does it, i could drive 40 min straight no problems, or i could drive 15 min then it locks up its all random. I had two master tecs from pep boys check with their $5,000 scan tool while the d light is flashing and they both said the tranny isn't throwing any codes. Just a generic p0700 which is just automatic transmission fault. I have no check engine light, if anyone ever experienced this or have any idea waht this might be your help would truly be appreciated. Thanks in advance!!!

Pep boys have master techs..?
How's your transmission fluid level and condition? When was the last time you replaced it and the pressure switches?

Yea they do i work there im not a mechanic tho, we do everything from tires to engine swaps all the time but don't really mess around with transmissions. The fluid level and condition is fine, i use specific honda transmission fluid. The pressure switches i've never replaced them since i had the car which been like 2 years now

I'd replace the pressure switches and see if that fixes it

I had the d light blinking with check engine light. I forget the code, I think it was a p1717 or something like that. I pulled the code and reset it using my code scanner. Has not returned since. This was a month ago or so. Around when hurricane Irma hit us. I found that the trans selector switch could be going bad. It electronic and not a mechanical problem. This is waht I wasbtold by form members.

. My CEL light or D light never came on when I had transmission problems.
You have an internal hydraulic issue. Clutch material builds up overtime which clogs lines.
With clogged lines, your torque converter and clutch packs will begin to overheat ( slipping ).

Trans drain and fill it replacing both pressure switches. Well those are all great ideas, not really worth the time. At least not in this case. If your d light is blinking then you obviously havre transmission selector switch which is either failing or has completely failed and needs to be replaced. Just my 2 cents, that's what route I would have gone. But at least now you're drain/fills are done and your pressure switches are done.
