Lower ball joint came apart which pulled out the inner joint on your axle. There could be plenty of other collateral damage. I looks like the ball joint came apart (lost the nut off of the bottom) rather than failed. Did you, or someone else, ever do any work on the suspension? If so then they may not have put things back together properly and that's no joke. What you show here is a very dangerous failure.

Money is hard to tell until you add up everything that may have been damaged. And, there is no nice way to say this so here goes...if you know parts only as "a screw thing" then I'd say you need to have the car towed somewhere and get it fixed by a professional mechanic.

Ps. Get the car on something safe. A concrete block like in the picture is very dangerous and could collapse at any time. DO NOT get near the underside of the car until you take care of that.

^ +1.. my guess is the cotter pin probably came off or wasn't installed or the LBJ threads stripped. OP did the wheel jack up your fender? You should file an insurance claim on this one.
