Cruise control won't stay on.
So I'm driving to my game today and noticed that I couldn't get the "Cruise Main" light to stay on in order to set cruise control. If I press the button the "Cruise Main" light comes on, but as soon as I let it go it turns off. If I hold the button down, I'm able to set my cruise speed, but as soon as I let it go, the light goes off again.
I took it to Acura and they want over $240 for a cruise control switch, seems kind of high is there anything else it could be before I put out this kind of money?

digging in the sterring wheel is a varsity job. requires taking out the airbag. you can search "steering wheel lights" or something like that. sounds like maybe the switch is just not catching. does it make the "click" and stay locked in the down or up position when you press it?

well the switch still clicks and one press it stays in the "on" position and the next press it goes to "off" position. so I guess its still catching but I don't know why the "Cruise Main" light doesn't stay on while its in the "on" position.
If I pry something in the opening of the switch, the light then stays on and the other Cruise control functions work just fine. I had wheel alignment done about a week ago, could that have possibly broken it? Of course the auto place denies they did anything, but that was the last people to work on my car.

I would say it sounds more like there's a problem with the switch below the button. maybe a short, but if you can wedge something in the gap and it works, most likely just a failing switch and not a short.

Now its not even catching, but the cruise control itself still works if i keep it held in with something. Another shop quoted $200 + tax. so I guess the $200 range is about right. I would do it myself since the part itself is only about $45, but I'm not very comfortable messing around with the airbag so I guess I'll get it fixed eventually. The guy at Acura said if its not a priority then I can keep the wedge in it to keep it held down and it should not hurt anything. I don't use it that much since I mostly drive in the city so I'll take my time I guess it just bothers me that something is broken.
If it had messed up last year, then it would be covered under warranty, but I'm about 10 months out of the 48 month warranty, so eventhough I have only 41,000 miles on it, I still have to pay. :thumbsdow
any Azine people in the Atlanta area that would be able to do it for me for less?

I have the same problem, started Saturday.
The Cruise Main switch is a "toggle" switch, like a ball point pen (click once, locks down/on, click second, pops up/off). Mine, as it sounds like yours, does not catch/lock in the down position, but Cruise works when depresses and held. I can actually depress the switch and SLOWLY release and get it to lock, but it will pop up in a minute or two.
Looks like we can get to the switch ourselves, with patience and attention to detail: https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...ing+wheel+swap

I am also having the same problem where the cruise main button will not stay depressed. After about 2-3 seconds it pops back up. If I hold in the button it works fine. Seems like $200 is pretty steep to replace the button (especially if the circuit is fine). It looks like the plastic piece covering the button could be popped off. Anyone know?

Removing the air bag is not that difficult. You'll need a Torx T30 bit and preferably a 3/8" drive. Look in the 3G Garage for LED threads or do a search for air bag replacement. The screws have loctite on them, so they can be stripped if you don't follow the tips in the threads (a 3/8" drive vice a 1/4" drive will help prevent stripping the torx heads). You should buy new screws (2) or put loctite on the old ones before replacing. Once the screws are out, the rest is gravy.
