Cruise Control fails to engage with lights on?

I have an 06' Base, 5AT that I've had for about a month now and just last week I installed Type-S tails with side markers. I just noticed here driving at night that my cruise control would not stay set. The CRUISE MAIN light is illuminated and toggles on and off when depressed, but when I press the SET button, the car fails to maintain speed. I've eliminated the possibility of brake lights not working, and I've searched other threads and tried putting your foot under the brake and attempt to engage and still no avail. I'm also well aware that you have to be doing at least 30 mph for the system to engage. I have been trying to troubleshoot this at highway speeds. The kicker here is when I turn my lights completely off, ie, no parks, headlights, the cruise control system works as advertised. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated!

To the best of my knowledege the windshield hasn't been replaced. I've only swapped out the baste tails for type-a tails but you still transfer the factory led board to the new tails. I had to have the started replaced about a week ago due to it binding up and that's about it. Out of curiosity, how would replacing a windshield affect the cruise control?

240sx- You were dead on man, if I disconnect the right tail light, the cruise will work with the lights on and if I disconnect the left, it still wont work. Now i'm off to find a new LED board and they're $100 brand new! Thanks for your help!

My cruise control is also not working. We are in a middle of monsoon down in South Texas. I had my windshield replaced about 6-8 months ago. How would that cause the CC not to work?

I will definitely try all the other methods also to single out the cause.

A while back a few members had their windshields changed because of debris breaking it. Afterwards they had a host of problems from the door locks not working to lights flickering, etc.

What had happened was that the technicians who installed the glass didn't do it properly and water leaked down and destroyed a unit called the "multiplex" unit. This unit controls many of the electronics in the car.

Ok, thank you csmeance.

Today, it worked just fine. So, I guess I'll wait and see if the problem occurs again.

Same Problem - Bump

Experiencing the same problem in my '05. Wondered if there was any resolution to this?

Possibly related: Blew the fuse controlling brake lights/horn last week. Replaced with no further issue.

Thanks in advance!
