Crank but no Start
Crank but no Start
Hey y'all, recently my 07 TL gave out on my way driving back from classes. I pulled over and saw my belt was tearing so I went ahead and replaced it. when I tried starting it, it wouldn't start. I had electrical problems already because the alternator was iffy, so I replaced that, tried starting and wouldn't start. I then replaced the starter, still wouldn't start. I then got a bigger connection for my battery terminal and still no start. Charged the battery, no start. I have new sparkplugs too, I smell gas each time I crank it, but still no start. What am I missing? Could the ignition coils be bad?
-New Alternator
-New Sparkplugs
-New Starter
-New Relays
-Charged Battery
I can attach a video of me turning it later tomorrow but any help would be appreciated.

Miles? Do you know when the last time the timing belt was changed? Where there any CEL's before this started happening? Which relays did you switch, and why?
Engines need 4 things in order to run;
1) air (you can pretty much assume it's getting this),
2) fuel (smelling gas while cranking is 1 thing, but visually looking at the injectors firing is a pretty convincing evidence. Do you hear the fuel pump priming when turning the key to the 2 position?)
3) spark (easy to test with a spark tester, or simply grounding the plug while cranking)
4) compression (easy to test with a compression tester)

here is a dropbox link to a video of the car, I confirmed that the pump is turning on and delivering gas. but here is me trying to start it. Could it be just from the sound of it that I'm not getting compression?

Unless you did something dumb that you're not telling us (like a money-shift), you don't really lose compression at a flip of a switch like it sounds like you did. To just spontaneously die like that while driving, something immediate happened; like a timing belt slipped a couple teeth from a failing tensioner.
The harmonic balancer drives the power steering, alternator and A/C; nothing to do with the timing belt.
Have you checked for spark yet? And just because you can hear the fuel pump, doesn't necessarily mean the injectors are firing and squirting fuel into the cylinders.

It was infact timing! But not only that, one of the valves bent when the timing went out. Figured that out after I retimed the car and tried starting it up :p timing slipped because the serpentine belt tore its self and ate away inside the car while spinning.
