CLUTCH help please give input!!!

Good Morning,
I purchased my 07 tls in stick from an acura dealer with 20,000 miles.
Recently after the clutch would sometimes get stuck. I told the dealer and they said that they could not duplicate the issue so it was like it had never happened. It has happened maybe 6 times more since. So the other day now i have 60,000 miles on the car it happened again. I was shifting from 3 to 4th and the clutch was stuck and seemed like there was a lot of pressure. When i hit the gas with my foot off of the clutch completely, i heard a weird droning sound like the motor was trying to go faster then the clutch was allowing it to... so i think think that the clutch was stuck down and it was almost like someone learning how to drive stick would be riding the clutch... Now i have some burnt clutch kevlar smell and it has taken like 2 days to dissipate. Any ideas on what to do ? I want to tell acura because this has been an ongoing mechanical problem from when i first got the car! I also dont think i should have to replace a cluch with 60,000 please give input

A clutch will last the lifetime of the car IF driven properly.

it sounds like the previous owners beat the crap out of the clutch.
you're due for a replacement.
you can try to push the dealers for it, but since its a wear and tear item, I wouldnt count on it.

I bought my '06 TL 6MT with 31k. at 35k, I had to replace the clutch.
I had the same symptoms as you.
after a hard RPM run, my clutch pedal would get stuck.

I scored the oem clutch kit from acuraoemparts.com for about $250.
then had a local mechanic install it for $400.
$700 is a lot better than what the dealer wanted......$1200.

tru but when acura replaced my 3 and 4th gear synchro sets because of a call back on the 3 gear synchro. When they looked at the clutch they had told me it was a baby and looked great. So when u replaced the clutch it stopped getting stuck and feeling like there was a lot of pressure before you would pump the pedal a few times to get it back to normal feel

Thats the risk you take when buying a used car.
the clutch wasnt treated properly, and now you're getting the after effects.

Yes, after a HIGH RPM run, the clutch pedal would get stuck.
I would have to pump it a few times before the pedal would come back up.

Here is my thread, I made about my problems.
https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-2004-2008-93/take-look-slightly-abused-clutch-797628/

I advise you to buy the clutch kit from acuraoemparts.com and have an independent mechanic do the work, unless you're comfortable changing the clutch yourself.

After, I replaced my clutch, all my problems and tribulations went away.

^they're going to charge you labor out the ass.
its not covered under warranty.

if you're fine with the labor cost at an Acura dealer, go ahead and do it.
otherwise, I'd find an indie mechanic.

tru alright ... now i at least know to take it easy for a while until im ready to replace the clutch... the smell dissipated finally lol the car is shifting fine now i guess i will try to not heat it up and / or hit the gas crazy hard until i know im replacing it since that is what most likely caused it to stick!!!

it will only get worse.
hopefully, you can save enough money before it craps out.

You need the clutch disk, pressure plate and flywheel. I don't know the part numbers but Acktl05 a member here can get you a good deal on the set. As you can see it's expensive in labor so you want to get everything right the first time. I think the stock clutch bites harder the higher you get in rpm. I have had a hard time shifting out of gear at 5k+ stock and on my 6 puck disk I'm running now.

I had a similar problem, one day i was sitting in the winter time idling for maybe 30 min when i went to push down on the clutch it went down and didnt want to come back for a while. I replaced the slave cylinder but that did nothing to correct the problem. Eventually i took it to my god of a mechanic and after diagnosing it by pushing on the clutch and undoing the hydrolic line at various points he was able to determine that it was my flex line, apparently it was frayed or something on the inside which allowed me to push down on it with the force of my foot but it took it a while to come back. Replaced the flex hose and bingo bango it was like new again. He says that this sometimes happens to brake system flex lines and it causes the brakes to drag.

Speedytypes, thanks for good info which will hopefully help
some of these guys (my TL is an automatic).
Also if a person has a brake caliper that won't retract they
need to replace the flex line first.
