Clutch gave out

Idk how this happened but I'm at a complete stop and go on first and noticed that my clutch was a bit loose. I then went on second in witch it became a little stiff to switch into and the clutch stayed at the bottom for a second and popped back out. When this happened somehow I managed to get on fourth and drove it off the highway into a Lot where it got towed to my mechanic. What could this be. The clutch is about a yr old and Acura installed it. It's not my tranny bc it was working fine and I doubt it was a burnt clutch bc I didn't smell it nor dis it give any signs of failing. Could it b possible that may it just got loose from a cable or something?

clutch master cylinder failed? Did you check if you still have fluid in the container?

Probably the same reason the clutch was replaced a year ago. I'd take a good look at the hydraulics, master, slave, hose.
