Clutch doesn't return normally
Clutch doesn't return normally
Hey all. I've put 85k miles on this car, and this is only the 2nd issue I've had (first was the axles). What an awesome car.
Anyway, I've got an '06 6MT and for the past 1500 miles I'm periodically having an issue with the clutch. I push in the clutch, shift, but when I let out the clutch pedal it comes up slowly. Not super slow, but slower than it should. It hesitates.
When it is doing this, it does it also with the engine off as well.
Is this commonly known to be a clutch master/slave issue? Or something else? Is it possible that some debris is clogging or blocking the check valve sometimes? Obviously there should be no debris in there, but I'm grasping at straws here because about 80% of the time the clutch feels normal.
I'm not seeing any fluid under the car but I haven't inspected the master/slave cylinders closely. I should probably do that.
Any input?

Sounds like the slave cylinder could be on its way out or there could be a small amount of air in the system....check the condition and fluid level in the clutch master cylinder then try bleeding the system to start
Thanks, the fluid looks clean but it was close to the "Low" line (but not below it). I topped it up on Tuesday but still having the issue.
I guess I'll order a new slave cylinder, because I don't know how there could have been air introduced into the system. The car has almost 105k miles on it, doesn't seem unreasonable for the slave to be on its last legs. Thanks again man! I will report back.

Check for debris in the fluid. Flush the fluid if it hasn't been done and if that doesn't work check your clutch line. If that isn't the issue, check the slave cylinder for residue and check the front engine mount for any residue from brake fluid since it can leak on to that and make it look like nothing is leaking. Finally if all that doesn't work check the master cylinder. Any residue on it probably means there's a leak present. You'll have to change that. I'd suggest a good cleaning to make sure there's no caramel like residue flowing through the lines.

and then proceed through the rest of those steps as well if necessary. Many thanks!
