click in the shift gate AT

I never had this before or just didnt notice it but everytime i start driving from a full stop i hear a click in the shift gate, like two seconds later after i realease the brake pedal and step on gas. Its the same noise when the car is in " Park " while its turned on and u press the brake and realease u hear that click inside the shift gate. must be some kind of a switch but i have never noticed it before ..... should i worry about it, have it checked out, the car seems to bahave normaly.

its the lock mechanisim that keeps the shifter from moving from park when the brake is not depresed. Sounds to me that it is broken since its clicking during normal driving...

not that hard as all you do is remove the console to get to it.
