Click in front when turning
Click in front when turning
I had my 04' 6MT TL in the shop for some warranty work a couple weeks ago. When I picked up the car and drove it out of their garage it made a clicking noise when I turned and accelerating to go around the back of the building. I didn't think anything of it at the time, but it had never done this before. Well, it's been 2 weeks and it does it every time when I first start the car and drive away out of my lot, and for about 1/4 of a mile after when I turn onto the main road by my house. It seems that I have to be accelerating/turning for it to happen. It will not do it coasting. The click picks up it's frequency (speed) as I accelerate. The dealer only replaced the clutch M/C and rotated the tires to check for a pulling issue. I have a feeling they may have beat the sh!t out of my car while test driving it. They put 38 miles on it while they had it. Any ideas on the click? I checked the CV boots and all is well. It's a pretty throaty click. Anybody have any tips on how to setup your car so you can tell if they beat on it? I wish they had a valet mode so the revs could be limited or something. OH, car has the GM synchromesh fluid in it if it matters.

Sounds like it might be a needle bearing is shot in your transaxle. I had a 'click' on the drivers side. Loud click, especially when pulling out of a parking spot. I replaced the transaxle (at only 50k miles) and the noise is gone. I think the 270 hp is a little much for these transaxle bearings. I had two Accords that went 200k+ with no problems. The 38 miles is nuts.
I'm taking it to the dealership tomorrow to get it fixed under warranty. Service manager said he has seen it before, esp. in the 6MT cars on the right side. He says they are under a lot of torque, NO SH!T!!
what's this about a mechanical warranty till 40,000 miles? Did I not see something while reading the warranty info? I thought it was 50,000/4 years bumper to bumper, plus the separate emmisions and paint warranties. I'm at 36,500 and just had the RF axle replaced, I'm guessing the LF will shit out in due time also, it's a 6MT. I don't abuse it, but it seems like no matter what the axles on the 6mt is an issue

Mine have been a function of cold weather, or at least become apparent in the cold. I could hear my left last year but the shitty dealer i went to at the time would only recognize the right, the left was much more subtle, this year in the cold it got pretty loud and the dealer I have it at noticed right away this morning. However they said they are not positive it's the drive shaft and want to keep it another night to get more diagnostic time. We'll see what they say tomorrow, hopefully it gets cold enough tonite for easy replication in the morning as the noise in mine seems more persistent as the temperature drops below 0c.
I have an 04 AT and it has started to do this in last 2 weeks or so. Seems to be drivers side front. It happens on first right hand turn after stop then goes away. I am taking it to dealer this Wednesday. I will let everyone know what happens.
