Exclamation Clear Coat Peeling

Hey guys I have a little problem. my clear off of my front bumper peeled off a little bit when I was washing my car the other day. it peeled off like a little under two inches. it isn't to big but I hate seeing it like that. do you know what I could do to fix it so I can get the clear coat back on it? or Do I need to get the whole front bumper repainted? Please Help

Has the bumper been repainted before? Clear coat failure usually occurs when the car hasn't been properly waxed/sealed/protected. Sitting in the sun for a long time kills the clear coat hence why wax is crucial in sunny states like CA.

we need more info on the car to see has it ever been in an accident? repainted? etc.

Once the clear starts delaminating, there's nothing much you can do except redo the part. If it was a small area in an inconspicuous spot, it might be repairable, but the bumper, no go.

it's just the bumper.
clear coat failure is better on the bumper than sheet metal.

be glad it's not happening on the sheet metal

yeah its never been repainted before or in an accident, it is the original paint since it was made.

yeah true you have a point but there is also another inch or so on the hood above the right headlight, is it because the hotsy peels it off if it is too close to the paint? I was cleaning it at the car wash because I had a lot of dead bugs in the front

has the bumper seen its fair share of road debris and gravel? If so that can also help weaken the clear coat. What I would do is wash & wax and seal the entire car. It's all preventative maintenance like an oil change.

You could try to clean off any of the chipping clear and clean it with IPA. Once that's done you can try to spray it with some clearcoat to help it from peeling further and protect the base layer of paint.

Waxing will help prevent more damage but the damage that's done is done.

Isopropyl alcohol, ask the guy at the counter for all the prep stuff and whatnot you'll need. Look up a few DIY's on spot repair and clear coat repair.
