Clanking bubbling sound from timing area

Hello, I been doing alot of searching latley.

My 07 tl with 29500 miles has been back and forth into the dealership for about the same issues every time for the last month.

To make a long story short they replaced the tensioner 4 times with a new shim kit (tsb), replaced the idler pulley, replaced the timing belt 4 times, water pump once, and replaced the serpentene belt.

The car varies of noise from the passenger tire area and in the engine bay. It sounds like alot of chatter and it was confirmed from them that its NOT the valve train and it was a bad tentioner which was crooked. Then the sound will be like bubbly gurggling sound from the front timing belt area. it sounds like bubbles------------bubbles and repeats itself.

I called them and informed them that after a few miles it did it already. But the last time i took it in i told them to drive it 15 miles to be sure, and it was puuuurring like a kitten. Now its back. And every time its either one sound or another.

So has anyone had this many issues lol?

i put a long screw driver on the face of the timming belt cover and put my ear to it to determine for sure if it was comming inside that area.

of course acura confirmed it. Of course it took a while of convincing that there was an issue. We will see tomorrow if i get a phone call.

Well, I got the car back today. They replaced the crank pulley as recommended by tech line.

They said they would sit there and spray lube and the sound would go away, then it will come back. Which I dont understand.

They said if it happends again then they are going to have to tear apart the motor.

Hmnnnnn are you saying they put spray lube on the serpentine belt? Thats not a good solution. There is a belt dressing product that is ok for use on the serpentine belt, but typically these just mask the real problem. sounds like its time to investigate further. idler pulley?

they claim they sprayed on the pulley itself. But the idler pulley has been replaced 5 times and they said the 'defective' crank pulley is the one causing more bad idler pulley and tentioners.

hehe I have also had 5 new timming belts installed.

I havent tried to listen for the sound just yet, I will do that later.

I've noticed something similar...I only hear it when the engine has been running a while and when I mildly accelerate from a complete stop...I don't hear it (or it isn't as noticeable) when I am in Park and I rev the engine. The noise kind of sounds like a flutter / bubbly gurgling. Does that sound like what you're experiencing?

I had this too at 40 thousand miles. I took it to the dealer multiple times. The first time they said it needed a timing belt tensioner shim kit, the second time they claimed they couldnt hear it. It would only occur when the car was warm, so when it sat overnight at the dealer this explaims why they couldnt hear it the next day on the second time around.

After 20 thousand more miles, the sound rarely occurs.

For me, ignoring it fixed the problem. ha.

Well i havent heard it yet, but I havent really gunned the car like i normally do, I have just been taking it easy.

At idle how does your car sound? Mine you can notice alot of clicking and ticking from the passenger tire/timming belt area but not out of the top of the motor. This was the first problem i brought it in for and they said it was a bad tentioner. Then one issue led to another everytime they replaced it.

I just want my car to purr like most luxury cars do, and not sound clicky and desily.

Did you ever figure out the issue? I know its been more than 10 years but my TL does the same thing. Its done it for as long as ive had the car to be honest, timing belt and tensioner was replaced 10k ago

my car has made that sound too a few years ago.. Like a paint can ball rattling.. Then it stopped. I still have no idea what it was. And it may come back someday.
I wonder if the AC Compressor can make that noise?
One thing I would do is EVAC the fluid in the Power steering reservoir.. And put in Fresh fluid. Make sure it is full. Bacause the PS Pump can clatter real LOUD if it is empty, but maybe if it is low, it may just rattle a bit. I am only guessing if this is the problem. Btw, at some point I did end of replacing my PS Pump.. But not for any rattling..
With only 27k miles on YOUR car.. I would not think it is a major problem.
Good luck!
