Chips on windshield

Hey guess my front windshield has a ton of small rock chips on it... and a couple larger ones.

The cracks haven't started to spread yet.

Short of replacing my windshield, is there a product out there that can "fill" these cracks up and reinforce the cracked, weaken areas?

The little rock chips get really annoying with the sun is out

Would that eye glass lens repair stuff work?

no-
you can have a glass repair shop use epoxy to fill the chips after they do a stop drill to keep cracks from spreading, but in reality---
if its hard to see thru, its beyond repair
Should run about $350 cash at a private glass shop for complete new windshield

Its not hard to see thru... the light just reflects off each chip and it looks a little speckled. Not an issue with sunglasses on though. When you run your finger over the small chips, it barely catches.

I want OEM glass!!

FYI. Most insurance policies have ZERO deductible for windshield damage. This is due to safety issues with driving with damaged windshields. Not sure how they would feel about rock chips though. You can always try calling your insurance company and telling them it's hard to see through.

Please post how you make out. I've got a few bazillion nicks in mine too. I think the previous owner tailed rock trucks for a hobby.

Thumbs down Windshiled chips suck!

Mines the same way kiang...really annoying how soft the OEM glass is. I read it's something to do with the sound deadening layer they use in it. I've never had good luck with aftermarket glass before...the optics have always been sub-par so I'm going to replace mine next spring with OEM glass as well.

ADD on the title..."WINDSHIELD"!

HAHA Yeah seriously. I had a section of my bumper that was rock chip central!!!!! Had this shit repainted...

Anyway, I'll get on that soon. I wonder if a "screen protector" type deal would work to protect it. HAHA

Dood,

whatever you do, do not put eye glass repair stuff on it , that is a bad idea. I would seek out a windshield repair technician, some places you can get it done for as low as $19.95 just depends on where you are at.
